African Entomology (ISSN 1021-3589 – print / 2224-8854 – online) replaced the old Journal of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa in 1993. A single volume consisting of two issues (March and September) is published annually. The journal is indexed in all major abstracting journals
African Entomology is a peer reviewed scientific journal that publishes original research articles and short communications on all aspects of entomology, with an emphasis on the advancement of entomology on the African continent. Article processing charges for authors outside South Africa will be calculated according to the relevant current exchange rate.
The corresponding author for an accepted manuscript must have been a paid-up member of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa for a period of no less than two years to qualify for the member discount.
Discounts will not be applied automatically – a request for the discount must be included in the manuscript cover letter, with the name and ESSA membership number clearly stated.

Journal of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa Memoirs
The first of the Journal of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa Memoirs was published in 1947, as part of a separate series to accommodate monographs that were too large to be published in the journal. Fourteen Memoirs were published between 1947 and 1981. Copies of most back issues are still available.
This publication has been replaced by African Entomology Memoirs.
